The Freelancer Corps
Attention teen writers!
WE WANT YOU…
…to join the FREELANCER CORPS!
Don’t wait! Get published now! We are looking for people to join our Freelancer Corps (it sounds militaristic, but it’s really artsy. That’s the irony, dig?) to cover the arts in New York City. Our goal is to be the premiere place for teen writing on the arts. No other organization covers it they way we will. That means we want to cover EVERYTHING: film, museums, theater, dance, performance, music. Any of it and all of it.
Freelancers (who must be between 13-18 years old) commit to writing at least one 200-400 word review every other month. Reviewers always get TWO FREE TICKETS to any High 5 show that has availability. In addition, every other month there will be a “FREELANCER GATHERING” of some sort. It might be a writing workshop, a group outing to a special theater performance, or a visit to museum to meet with a teen program they are running. These are extra opportunities for you to meet your fellow reviewers, learn a bit about your writing craft, and experience the NYC arts-scape in a unique way.
Anyone can sign up! Send an email with “NEW WRITER” in the subject line to eost@high5tix.org (include your name, age, grade and school) and we’ll get you started writing for THE HIGH 5 REVIEW!
Can’t make the full commitment? Don’t worry. Anyone can submit a one-time review for publication consideration. There’s no need to join the Corps. If you’ve written 200-400 words about a show, exhibition or CD you’ve heard or seen, submit it with your name, age, grade and school to eost@high5tix.org with the subject line “ONE TIME SUBMISSION.”
For more info contact Eric Ost at eost@high5tix.org or 212-453-9485.
Don’t wait! Be read by thousands! Get your start in the industry NOW.
